Our story

It was in 1973 that the beautiful story of golf at Domaine de Belenhaff began, when Jean and Marc Weidert acquired a large agricultural land and quickly saw its golfing potential. Everything had to be done from scratch! The Weidert brothers were visionaries and wanted to create a high-level course with a high-end clubhouse.

After many years of serious studies and seeking advice from international golf specialists, the construction of the course began in 1992 with one philosophy: “A good course should allow every player to set an achievable goal and should appeal to both the beginner and the best player.”

The course was built on approximately 80 hectares without sacrificing trees or habitats! Taking advantage of the topography and exceptional quality of the subsoil, the fairways, tee boxes, and greens smoothly adapted to the natural site. The creation of important natural areas, such as ponds or wetlands, attracted rare fauna and flora, some of which were endangered. The planting of more than 3000 trees contributed to the ecological enhancement of the entire site.

The first nine holes were opened in the fall of 1993, while the second part of the course was completed in the fall of 1994. The renovation of the left wing buildings followed in the spring of 1995, immediately followed by that of the right wing a year later. The majestic 18th-century farm would finally house the Golf clubhouse and beautiful banquet halls, becoming the ideal setting for many festivities.

Today, led by Annick Weidert, daughter of Jean Weidert, born just a few years before the start of the project, the Luxembourg Golf has retained the human values instilled by its founders from the very beginning. Happy to continue this beautiful family story, Annick Weidert took over the reins with passion in 2003, aspiring to continue her family’s work, evolve the course in the right direction, and ensure the club’s sustainability.

Since its opening, the Luxembourg Golf has been a great success both nationally and internationally. It now has over 800 members from 27 different nationalities and has acquired a remarkable reputation both for the beauty of the building housing the clubhouse and for the quality of its golf course, recognized as one of the most beautiful in the Greater Region.

The Luxembourg Golf – Belenhaff takes as its own the motto inscribed on the lintel of the farm’s entrance door: “Deo principi amicoque optimo aperi”. God, Prince, and friend, welcome!
