News
As you may have noticed, over the last 10 days we have had a heavy attack of Dollar Spot on the greens, which is a summer disease that develops when temperatures are high and the surface soil is very wet…
We haven’t used any phytosanitary products for over three years, and despite frequent applications of biostimulants, elicitors and trichoderma fungi to combat other turf-damaging fungi, disease attacks have been more aggressive this year on most golf courses in Luxembourg and France.
Rainfall has been far too regular since the beginning of February (only 8 days without rain between August 5 and 12), a factor which favours turf diseases; the greens are saturated with water both deep down and on the surface.
In order to recover our greens as well as possible, we’re going to carry out light sandblasting every Monday and micro-drilling to dry out the playing surface as much as possible.
Thank you for your understanding,
Laurent Depret, Greenkeeper
